Hi, I'm Jenny Williams

Founder of Take the Space

 

Welcome

 

I have spent over 30-years working in and alongside arts, heritage and cultural organisations in senior leadership, advisory and governance facing roles.

 

My work focusses on anti-racist, inclusive and decolonial practice at an organisational level - how commitments are translated into systems, decisions and everyday practice; and how that work is sustained over time.

 

I have worked with organisations of all sizes, from small project-based teams to large, complex institutions operating under public and funder scrutiny.

 

Across that time, I have seen this work gain momentum, stall, fragment and restart.  The consistent issue is not intent, but implementation.

 

Why Take the Space

Organisations are navigating changing relationships with audiences, communities, increased accountability and the growing need to address decolonial practice alongside anti-racist and inclusive work.

Without clear systems, priorities and processes this work quickly becomes complex, overwhelming or inconsistent - often relying on individual effort rather than organisational structure.

Take the Space exists to address that gap.

The Take the Space Implementation System brings together frameworks, training, tools and structured support into a coherent approach that organisations can apply at a pace they can sustain.

 

How I work

 My approach is practical, governance-aware and grounded in how organisations actually operate. 

I work across:

  • boards and trustees
  • executive and senior leadership teams
  • managers and departmental leads
  • project teams and delivery staff

The focus is always on clarity, accountability and follow-through rather than one-off interventions or commitments.

Take the Space Implementation operates through a combination of :

  • structured frameworks
  • targeted and often bespoke training
  • practical tools and resources
  • optional coaching and advisory support

Each element is designed to reinforce the others.
